a) collect information from the Council of Chairs on professional development and leadership training needs and advise the Provost on these matters;
b) find and disseminate information to or develop opportunities for Department Chairs to:
1) create productive environments for faculty/staff within their respective programs;
2) lead and facilitate positive change;
3) build and manage productive relationships with relevant populations (e.g. chairs, faculty, administrators, students and the community;
4) manage time and departmental resources effectively;
5) hire and evaluate faculty/staff;
6) review and manage programs, both curricular and extra-curricular; and
c) request resources from the Provost necessary for Department Chair training and development.
