Ask a Wise Student

The UVa-Wise Ambassadors are a group of students selected each year by an application and interview process. The group is selected on the basis of academic performance, personality, and leadership potential. Each ambassador is assigned an hour each week in which they either give a campus tour to a visiting student or assist the Office of Admissions in e-mail, phone calls, or hosting group visits. In addition to an hour of individual duty each week, each ambassador is expected to attend each of UVA Wise 360 programs throughout the year.

The ambassadors hold fund-raising projects each year to help raise funds for training retreats, shirts and jackets for the group, and some public service projects involving area Head Start programs. The ambassadors are also called upon to volunteer for community service projects when possible. This year several of them assisted in the construction of a new playground for Wise Elementary School.
