UVa-Wise Institute for Excellence in Leadership to present first seminar at Southwest Virginia Technology Development Center
A Leadership Development Seminar will be presented by University of Virginia senior consultant Susan Brock Wilkes at the Southwest Virginia Technology Development Center (SVTDC) in conjunction with the Institute for Excellence in Leadership.
The Institute’s inaugural event is sponsored by The University of Virginia’s College at Wise and the University of Virginia. The class will take place at the SVTDC in Lebanon on May 20, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Wilkes is an organizational psychologist with extensive experience in leadership and team development, strategic planning, leadership assessment and executive coaching.
The seminar is based on the newest edition of “The Leadership Challenge” by Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner. The session will help leaders at all levels gain the crucial skills to become leaders of excellence. Participants will gain insight into the five practices of exemplary leaders and into their own leadership strengths and challenges.
Through the use of the assessment tool “The Leadership Practices Inventory” and experiential learning activities, leaders will enhance their ability to model the way, inspire a shared vision, challenge the process, enable others to act and encourage the heart.
The seminar cost is $109 and includes lunch. To register for the seminar or for more information, call 276-889-8180 or e-mail registration@svtdc.org. Registration deadline is May 15.
The SVTDC is located at 141 Highland Drive in Lebanon.
