Community invited to learn about UVa-Wise accounting degree cohort in Abingdon
The University of Virginia’s College at Wise will host an information session for those interested in an accounting degree cohort at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center in Abingdon on Monday, June 23, at 5 p.m.
A bachelor’s degree in accounting is designed to prepare students for careers in accounting, finance or entrepreneurship, as well as preparation for an MBA or a master’s degree in accounting. The curriculum for the cohort program is designed for students who have completed an articulated associate of arts and sciences community college degree in one of five transfer areas (education, general studies, business administration, liberal arts or science).
The Bachelor of Science in accounting cohort program at the College’s Abingdon campus is designed for working adults with evening, weekend and online classes that can be completed in 18 months (including summer sessions). Financial aid is available for qualifying students. Fall semester classes will begin Aug. 20. Upcoming semester schedules can be viewed at www.swcenter.edu/uvawise/schedule.htm.
UVa-Wise offers bachelor’s degrees at the Abingdon campus in business administration, accounting, management information systems and psychology. SVHEC also offers recertification classes for teachers, a library media endorsement and a certificate in accounting.
