CURRENT EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES
All student activities events are to currently enrolled UVa-Wise students. For more information about events that are happening around campus, check out the Student Activities Calendar or contact the Office of Student Activities.
The Student Activities Board sponsors a Film Series each month during the academic year. Movie selections range from recently released movies and are shown in the Slemp Student Center. The SAB also sponsors a Big Screen Movie on McCraray Lawn during Welcome Week and shows a horror film at "Scary on McCraray" during October.
"Hump Days @ Wise" events are SAB sponsored events that are held on Wednesdays each month usually mid-day. These events include Personalized Street Signs, free smoothies, pumpkin carving, Build a Bear workshops, Create Your Own Bumper Sticker, free T-Shirts, and free Masssages and Relaxation activities.
The "Last Lecture Series," sponsored by the Student Activities Board, is an engaging experience that provides faculty a means to connect with students in a relaxed environment outside of the classroom. Faculty members are asked to present what would be their "last lecture." Faculty are encouraged to think deeply about the question "If this were the absolute last lecture you had to present, what would you discuss?" The "Last Lecture Series" is held each month and students are able to gain cultural credit by attending any of the lectures.
