Day of Service set for April 13
In conjunction with the celebration of Founder’s Day, The University of Virginia’s College at Wise will host the 3rd annual Cavalier’s Care: A Day of Service, in memory of three women who were instrumental in the founding of the College—Mary Thompson, Lois Tracy and Jane Knox.
The Day of Service will be held on Saturday, April 13. A variety of projects will be available for members of the UVa-Wise and surrounding community. Registration for projects is required in advance and is open through noon on Wednesday, April 10. Please keep in mind that a limited number of participants will be assigned to each project.
The Day of Service is made possible through support of the Wise Kiwanis Club and was first held last year as a joint venture between the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and the College at Wise to honor and to celebrate the inauguration of Teresa A. Sullivan as the eighth president of the University of Virginia. In keeping with the College’s mission to promote civic involvement within the community, the Day of Service has become an annual event sponsored by the Office of Student Life.
This year's projects, to be conducted from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., are listed here. Please note that some events are open to all participants and others are restricted to specific groups and organizations.
