Eller to lecture at UVa-Wise on April 5
Ron Eller, a professor at the University of Kentucky, whom many consider the premier mind in the history of modern Appalachia, is lecturing at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise on Thursday, April 5.
Eller has written many books including “Miners, Millhands, and Mountaineers: Industrialization in the Appalachian South, 1880-1930” and his most recent, “Uneven Ground: Appalachia Since 1945.” His lecture will focus on modern concerns of economy, politics, and environment.
The free lecture is set for 7 p.m. in the Rhododendron room of the Slemp Student Center. Light refreshments will be available before the lecture, and Eller will arrive early in order to engage in informal discussions.
This lecture is the product of collaboration between the UVa-Wise Lecture Committee and the Appalachian Warfare grant. Students will receive Cultural Activity Credit for attending.
