The UVa-Wise Women’s Ensemble concert set for Jan. 13
The UVa-Wise Women’s Ensemble invites the public to attend “A Concert of Traditional Christmas Music” on Thursday, Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of All Faiths on campus. The concert was originally scheduled for December, but was postponed due to weather conditions.
The UVa-Wise Women’s Ensemble was established in September 2010 and includes members of the College staff and faculty and individuals from surrounding communities who enjoy performing a variety of choral music composed and arranged for women’s voices.
For this program, the Women’s Ensemble will perform works composed and arranged by the English composer John Rutter, choral arrangements of carols from the Renaissance, a traditional Catalan carol in the original language, Christmas songs from Broadway musicals, “Twas The Night Before Christmas,” set to music by Ken Darby in 1942, African-American spirituals and other compositions.
Admission is free. For additional information concerning this program and membership in the Women’s Ensemble contact D. Michael Donathan, Professor Emeritus of Music at firstname.lastname@example.org.
