UVa-Wise selected as Partner Campus in Red Flag Campaign
The University of Virginia’s College at Wise is now a Partner Campus with the Red Flag Campaign, a nationwide program to prevent dating violence on college campuses.
UVa-Wise successfully completed its first Red Flag Campaign last year. UVa-Wise now joins 19 other Virginia colleges or universities as Partner Campuses. As a Partner Campus, the College has committed to being actively involved in the Red Flag Campaign Advisory Committee for one year.
The Red Flag Campaign is a public awareness campaign designed to address dating violence and promote the prevention of dating violence on college campuses. The campaign was created using a “bystander intervention” strategy, encouraging friends and other campus community members to “say something” when they see warning signs for dating violence in a friend’s relationship.
The campaign is a project of the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance, and was created by college students, college personnel, and community victim advocates. The Campaign is funded by grants from the Verizon Foundation, Verizon Wireless, Macy’s Foundation, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
