Undergraduate Research student presentations set for Nov. 28

The Undergraduate Research Council is sponsoring undergraduate research presentations by UVa-Wise students Dakota Thomas and Ryan O'Quinn.

”On Wednesday, Nov. 28, Thomas, one of the two Summer Scholars, and O’Quinn, a FINS recipient, will present  the results of their summer research.  Their titles and abstracts for their talks are given below.

Thomas will address the subject of "Women and Terror in the Middle East." Women and Terror in the Middle East. His research will demonstrate the relationship of the status of women and of women's movements to the incidences of terrorism that occur in the Middle East and North African (MENA) region.

O’Quinn will talk about "Hydrogeology Near Clifton, Virginia." His subject deals with fluorescent dye tracing as an efficient and cost effective method to determine groundwater flow dynamics. This technique has been used in many different settings but is most commonly used in karst environments.

Cultural activity credit is available for the event.
