Winds of the Mountain Empire to perform at UVa-Wise

The Winds of the Mountain Empire, a wind ensemble in residence at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise, will present its ninth annual performance in the theater of the Gilliam Center for the Arts on the campus of The University of Virginia’s College at Wise on Sunday, July 20 at 4:00 p.m. Admission to the concert is free.

The 2014 Winds of the Mountain Empire Program will feature the following works:

English Folk Song Suite (Ralph Vaughan Williams)
Evensong (James Wardell)
Meridian (Ola Gjeilo)
Lui na Greine (Wes Harris)
Shadows of Eternity (Thomas Stone)
And Hope Led Them Home (Patrick Roszell and Justin Williams)

The Winds of the Mountain Empire, founded by conductor Dr. Donald Sorah in 2006, is a professional wind ensemble comprised of musicians from the southwest Virginia, northeast Tennessee, and southeast Kentucky regions that convenes each July for an annual performance.
