Biochemistry

Overview

To major in biochemistry at UVA Wise, students take a series of courses in each of three categories: biology, chemistry, and biochemistry. Additionally, majors take calculus, physics, and probability and statistics.

Biochemistry students at UVA Wise can also take advantage of the College's 3+3 Dual-Degree Articulation agreement with Appalachia College of Pharmacy (ACP), which provides a pathway for motivated students to obtain both a bachelor’s degree and doctorate of pharmacy in six years, a course of study that typically takes eight years. This program allows students to save on two years' worth of tuition and offers guaranteed admission to the Appalachian College of Pharmacy upon successful completion of the BA Biochemistry curriculum at UVA Wise. Students interested in pursuing the Dual-Degree route must make an appointment with the Chair of the Natural Science Department to declare their intent to apply.
