Welcome Alumni and Friends!

The University of Virginia's College at Wise Alumni Association is a private foundation whose purpose is to "aid, strengthen, and expand the work and development of The University of Virginia's College at Wise, through the involvement of alumni." This is accomplished through a variety of activities, such as:

• Developing a strong base of support through record keeping, chapter support, event planning, and gathering information for the publication in the UVa-Wise Magazine and other publications.
• Fundraising through the annual alumni phonathon, and other special events..
• Developing future alumni giving through extensive work with the student body.
• Assisting with the recruitment of students by sharing the story of our founding.
• The Alumni Association was established in 1969 by a handful of Clinch Valley College graduates. Today the Alumni Association has over 7,800 members and a very active Board of Directors. The 30-member Alumni Board meets 9 times a year at Alumni Hall, planning activities, events, reunions and Homecoming for our current studnets and alumni.

• If you are interested in becoming more involved in your alma mater. Please let us know. We are always in need of assistance on the many activities and committees supported by the Alumni Board of Directors.

The University of Virginia's College at Wise held Commencement ceremonies for the largest class (308) in the College's history on Saturday, May 19, 2007. At right, at College friends and former Cavalier football players, Corey Wheeler and Matt Hutchings pause for a photo. Wheeler and Hutchings say they plan to stay in touch with all of their     Cavalier friends following graduation.

The Alumni Association and Office of Development and College Relations hosted a new event for the Class of 2007 on Thursday, May 17th when the Senior Send-Off Tailgate was held prior to Commencement rehearsal. Nearly 170 seniors enjoyed a delicous BBQ meal catered by Finish Line Catering. The group enjoyed live entertainment by the band"Friend of a Friend" and several students won some cool prizes including a cruise! Kari Sparks was the lucky winner of the cruise but chose to opt for the cash payout of $500. Congrats Kari!
