University of Virginia’s College at Wise.
The University of Virginia’s
College at Wise Theater Department will present “Eurydice” and “Of Mice and Men”
this month in the Gilliam Center for the Arts.
The University of Virginia’s College at Wise will host a blood drive on Tuesday, Nov. 13.
The University of Virginia’s College at Wise will host a bone marrow screening drive on Thursday, Nov. 15.
The drive, sponsored by several departments on campus, will be coordinated by the “Be the Match” organization. The drive will be held in the Dogwood Room of the Slemp Student Center from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
The C. Bascom Slemp Foundation
has provided funding for projects at UVa-Wise which will foster research and enhance
the writing skills of the region’s teachers and their students.
The Appalachian Writing
Project has been awarded $60,000 to continue its summer institute for public
school teachers in the region and to continue the “Young Writers’ Camp” for
middle and upper primary schools in Southwest Virginia.
The SVEA Chapter at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise invites the public to attend its annual children’s Christmas event on Friday, Nov. 30 from 6-8 p.m.
The Ninja Stars FLL LEGO Division II Robotics team, sponsored by The University of Virginia’s College at Wise, won first place in the Abingdon Regional Competition on Saturday, Nov.10.
The Air Hats, another UVa-Wise sponsored team, won
third place honors overall in Abingdon and will also compete in the state
The Undergraduate Research Council is sponsoring undergraduate research presentations by UVa-Wise students Dakota Thomas and Ryan O'Quinn.
”On Wednesday, Nov. 28, Thomas, one of the two Summer Scholars, and O’Quinn, a FINS recipient, will present the results of their summer research. Their titles and abstracts for their talks are given below.
The University of Virginia’s College at Wise is organizing a tour of the Battle of Antietam and the town of Harper’s Ferry.
