Ryan Georgi - Head Athletic Trainer
The UVa-Wise athletic department turned to a Mid-South/Appalachian Athletic Conference member Union College to welcome Ryan Georgi as the new head athletic trainer in November of 2007.
Georgi comes from Union College where he was serving as assistant athletic trainer. He was part of the Union staff for just a short 10 months before having the opportunity to step in to direct the UVa-Wise effort near the end of the fall 2007 sports season.
The Florida native arrived at Union College in February of 2007 where he directed the Bulldogs secondary athletic training room. Georgi served as main team coverage for the Union baseball, football and women’s volleyball teams over his time in Barbourville, Ky.
Before moving to Union College, Georgi spent the 2005-06 academic year as a graduate assistant trainer for NCAA Division II member Delta State (Miss.) University. During the year, Ryan worked for the Statesmen men’s and women’s soccer and softball teams.
Georgi earned his bachelor of science degree in 2003 from the University of West Florida in health, leisur & exercise science sports med-athletic training. He completed his master’s of health, physical education & recreation in 2006 from Delta State.
