Wise, VA -- Matt Begley blasted a walk-off three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh to give the Highland Cavaliers a baseball split with the Wasps on Monday. Emory & Henry College used a 15-hit attack to take the opener, 12-8, before Begley's late heroics in the latter affair for a UVa-Wise 7-6 win.

Freshman Edwin Narvaez had the big day for the Cavs (25-15). He belted a solo homer in the first game before scoring three times, had three hits and two doubles in the second contest. Begley had two other hits other than the three-run round-tripper and four rbi in the second game. Carlos Ramos line a three-run home run and Jon Reed a solo shot in the first game. Andrew Anderson lined three hits with two runs batted in on the day.

Casey Burcham paced Emory & Henry (9-26) with four in the opener and one more in the second game. Brennan Stewart had a triple, three hits and two runs in the first game while Josh Stickley had a solo homer. Matt Duffy produced a three-run home run in the second game while both Jacob Sanders and Derek Brown had doubles.

The Wasps jumped all over Cavs starter David Jones in the opener. The visitors produced six runs in the top of the first and were never overtaken from that point. Adam Hall had a two-run double and Eric McAfee hit another run-producing two-bagger. Narvaez led off the bottom of the first and Reed matched him with his own solo homer to start the bottom of the third but UVa-Wise still trailed 9-5 after three frames. After two Wasps runs in the top of the fourth, Ramos pulled the Cavs within three scores, 11-8, as he belted a three-run round-tripper in the sixth. Stickley added an insurance solo home run in the top of the seventh for the 12-8 victory.

Trailing 6-4 heading into the bottom of the seventh, Reed walked and Anderson singled with one out. Begley stepped to the plate and connected for a three-run walk-off home run to end the game for the 7-6 Cavs win. Matt Duffy had a three-run homer in the third for Emory & Henry to highlight its offense.

The two teams will play another twinbill on Wednesday afternoon in Emory starting at 2:00 p.m.
