DAHLONEGA, Ga. – North Georgia College & State University, the NAIA's No. 7 team, handed UVa-Wise its eighth consecutive loss Tuesday in a 13-3 drilling of the Highland Cavaliers at the NGCSU Baseball Complex in Dahlonega, Ga.
The two teams had been scheduled to complete the two-game series Wednesday, but inclement weather has forced the cancellation of the non-conference event.
In Tuesday's game, Richie Daigle supplied much of the offense for the Saints, smacking two homers and knocking in six runs.
North Georgia improved to 26-9 with the victory. Meanwhile, UVa-Wise fell to 3-10 for the year.
The Saints jumped ahead early 9-0 before Will Childress got the Cavaliers on the board with a two-run single to right field in the fifth inning.
UVa-Wise returns to the diamond and Appalachian Athletic Conference play this weekend with a three-game series at Brevard (N.C.) College. The two AAC clubs hook up for two seven-inning games Saturday before playing a single nine-inning contest Sunday.
