Short Handed Cavs Fall at Alice Lloyd

Pippa Passes, KY – The short handed Highland Cavaliers men's basketball squad dropped a non-conference affair at Alice Lloyd College Tuesday evening. The University of Virginia's College at Wise played without two starters and its backup center but battled hard before falling 70-58 to Alice Lloyd College.

Parker Gemmell dropped 19 points on the night for UVa-Wise (10-16) to lead the effort. Both Joey Blackwell, who went four for four from three-point land, and Zydrunas Rackauskas added 12 points apiece. Ray Bailey chipped in nine points.

The Cavs led 35-34 at the half before the lack of depth from the missing players took its toll to come up short in the end by a 70-58 final to Alice Lloyd (15-11).

UVa-Wise returns to Greear Gym for a 7:30 p.m. Friday night game versus Covenant College.
