Wasps Complete Sweep of Cavs’ Men

Emory, VA – For the second time in nine days, Emory & Henry pumped its way past UVA-Wise in men’s basketball. The Wasps built a 12-point lead in the opening half before taking a 105-84 final tally to complete the season sweep over the Highland Cavaliers.
Cavs’ leading scorer, Zydrunas Rackauskas returned to action after missing three games to post another double-double of 14 points on six of nine shooting, 13 rebounds and four assists. Freshman Chris Stamper had a season-best 12 points. Jarred Soles and Cassidy Vaughan rounded out the team’s double figure scorers with 11 and 10 points.
UVA-Wise (4-6) did outrebound Emory & Henry (4-2) 54-50 but committed 36 turnovers on the night. The Cavs shot 53.3% (32 of 60) from the field but had a tough time from the foul line making only 12 of 32 attempts while the Wasps connected on 25 of 70 three-point tries.
The home team was paced by Korey Townsend’s 17 points including five three-pointers. Cain Landreth, Camillo Weinz and Shavar Bland completed the Wasps’ four double digit scorers with 15, 12 and 11 points.
UVA-Wise returns to Greear Gym and Appalachian Athletic Conference action for a 7:30 p.m. affair against Covenant College.
