Montreat Cruises Past UVA-Wise

Montreat, NC– The top men's basketball team in the Appalachian Athletic Conference, Montreat College, held court Saturday evening against UVA-Wise. Montreat held a 10-point halftime lead and cruised to victory over UVA-Wise by an 87-66 final score.

The home team stayed perfect in the AAC at 6-0 and improved to 9-8. UVA-Wise dropped to 5-12 and 2-4 in the league.

Zydrunas Rackauskas led the Highland Cavaliers' attack with 22 points on seven of 15 attempts. He also grabbed seven rebounds. Jarred Soles and Pance Kecev both made five of 11 shots from the field to finish with 14 and 12 tallies. Soles added four assists. Seth Gibson chipped in nine points.

Montreat had five players hit double figures led by Timothy Lewis' double-double of 19 points on eight of 11 shooting and 11 caroms. Thomaal Conyers dumped in 17 points. Noble Anthony, Kinard Barnett and Stephen Whiteside rounded out the double digit players with 14, 13 and 10 points.

UVA-Wise will next host Bluefield College Tuesday night starting at 7:30 p.m.
