Cavs Fall Apart in Second Half to Lose to Eagles

Pippa Passes, KY – After leading by five points at halftime, The University of Virginia’s College at Wise went cold from the field and committed costly turnovers to allow host Alice Lloyd College take a close, 86-80, victory Thursday night.
The Highland Cavaliers (0-1) led 44-39 over the opening 20 minutes of action. The team’s shooting took a nose dive down to 40% from the field as well as connecting on only 24 of 38 free throws and committing 26 turnovers for the night. The Eagles outscored the Cavs, 47-36, in the second half for the 86-80 final.
Junior Jarred Soles dropped in a team-high 23 points while Zydrunas Rackauskas posted his first double-double of 16 tallies and 11 carroms. Seth Gibson contributed 12 points and four assists. Forward Brian Sexton added 11 points and seven rebounds in his first game for UVA-Wise.
The Cavs will continue their three games in three days with an exhibition contest at East Tennessee State Friday night before playing at another NCAA Division I foe Saturday afternoon against Longwood University.
