Cavs Cruise Past Crown

Berea, KY – For the second weekend in a row, the Highland Cavaliers played much better Saturday afternoon than Friday night. The UVA-Wise men’s basketball team cruised past Crown College, 83-63, in the consolation game of the Berea College Invitational.
UVA-Wise improved to 2-3 on the year after falling, 84-60, to Centre College Friday evening. Crown dropped to the .500 mark at 3-3.
Zydrunas Rackauskas posted his fourth double-double in five games and third in a row with 14 points and 11 boards. Joey Blackwell had his best offensive game of the young season with 14 tallies and three treys. Jarred Soles added 13 points and four assists. Center Justin Sorensen contributed six rebounds.
The Cavs held the Crusaders to only 37% from the field for the game and forced 20 turnovers. UVA-Wise also outrebounded its opponent 44-36 and stole nine balls on the day.
UVA-Wise built a 39-26 halftime lead after having four lead changes in the stanza. The Cavs outscored the Crusaders 44-37 in the second half as well as having 17 to 2 second point chances.
The Highland Cavaliers will host the Emory & Henry Wasps in the first of two meetings Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.
