Covenant Sneaks Past UVa-Wise

Lookout Mountain, Ga. – Covenant College rode a 30 to seven advantage at the free throw line to sneak past UVa-Wise men’s basketball on Saturday night. The Scots led by four at the half before completing a 75-72 victory over the Cavs in Appalachian Athletic Conference action.
UVa-Wise (4-7/0-2 AAC) saw five players scoring in double figures. Seth Gibson came off the bench for 12 points including three triples. Eric Swords and Robert Amis added 11 tallies apiece. Jarred Soles and Bryan Sexton finished the leading scorers with 10 points. Sexton hauled in seven boards and Amis had four assists.
Covenant (4-6/1-1 AAC) received 18 points from Dan Nielson and 17 points by James Cunningham.
The home team made 30 of 35 free throw attempts while the Cavs were just seven of 12.
The Cavs return home for a 7:30 p.m. matchup against Virginia Intermont on Tuesday night starting at 7:30 p.m.
