Shorter Pulls Away in Second Half over UVa-Wise Men’s Hoops

Mount Berry, Ga. – Leading by five points at the half, Shorter College pulled away from UVa-Wise men’s basketball in the second half to take an 87-66 victory Saturday afternoon in the Berry Classic.
The Cavs complete the weekend trip to Georgia 1-1 while the Hawks defeated both Appalachian Athletic Conference opponents to go 2-0.
After having five double figure scorers Friday night, UVa-Wise failed to have anyone in double digits Saturday. Adam Hood paced the team for the second day with nine points while Pance Kecev joined him with nine tallies. Jarred Soles and Robert Amis chipped in seven scores. Daniel Adams pulled down a team-best six rebounds.
Shorter held a 36-31 advantage at intermission before outscoring UVa-Wise by 16 points, 51-35, in the latter half. The Hawks outrebounded the Cavs by a 43-31 margin while shooting 51.7% on the day.
The Cavs will now be off until facing Asbury College next Friday night, November 9 th starting at 7:00 p.m.
