Hot Second Half Takes Cavs Over Eagles

Pippa Passes, Ky. – After a tight first half, the Highland Cavaliers caught fire by hitting 17 of 28 attempts to pull away from the Eagles Tuesday night. Freshman Adam Hood held top honors of 17 points for UVa-Wise to help the visitors overtake Alice Lloyd, 83-68.
The Cavs (3-2) saw Hood hit three long-range shots to help account for his 17-point outing. Eric Swords and Pance Kecev hit double figures with 11 and 10 tallies. Joey Blackwell handed out five assists, dropped in eight points and stole three balls.
Rodney Mitchell and Eric Mullins led Alice Lloyd (1-3) with 17 and 13 points.
The Cavs won the battle on the glass 39-34.
UVa-Wise will next face two NCAA Division I opponents starting on Thursday with a 7:00 p.m. match at Longwood University.
