Charleston Southern Pulls Away from UVa-Wise in Second Half

Charleston, S.C. – Charleston Southern pulled away from UVa-Wise men’s basketball with a 25-0 run midway through the second half on the way to a 90-60 victory.
Senior Jarred Soles led the Highland Cavaliers (3-4) effort with 16 points on six of 11 shooting including three from long-range. Bryan Sexton added nine tallies and a team-high four rebounds.
Charleston Southern (2-1) saw all five starters hit for double figures with Chris Moore leading the way with 18 points following by Shelton Carter’s 16. Giedrius Knysas had a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds.
UVa-Wise battled back from 15 points down, 23-8, to trail by just five, 35-30, on a Daniel Adams jumper. The five points would be as close as the Cavs would get to their second NCAA Division I opponent in a row as they trailed 42-32 at the intermission.
A Sexton jump shot kept UVa-Wise down by just 47-37 at 16:58 in the game before the Bucs would slowly pull away for the 90-60 victory.
UVa-Wise will have its season home opener on Tuesday night when it hosts Randolph College for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
