Blake Mellinger moved into a new full-time position for his third year on the UVa-Wise coaching staff.
The
former Highland Cavalier moved into full-time capacity in March of 2007 after working part-time during the two previous seasons.
Mellinger's coaching responsibilities include all recruiting activities, on-floor coaching, scheduling, team travel, scouting and individual workouts with Cavs players.
He has worked various basketball camps to his credit including Clemson University, Virginia Tech, University of South Carolina and Wofford.
A starting forward who played two seasons (2003-05) under coach Clark, served as team captain as a senior. The Glade Spring, Va. product hit for 536 points (8.5 points per game) and grabbed 264 rebounds (4.2 rpg) over his two seasons. He came to UVa-Wise after playing for two years (2001-03) at NCAA Division II Limestone College in Gaffney, S.C.
Mellinger received his bachelor's degree in business administration in December of 2005 from UVA-Wise. Blake, who is a member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches, married the former Amy Tolley of Bristol, Va. on July, 28, 2007. The couple reside in Abingdon, Va.
