Cavs begin February with AAC loss

WISE – The last time UVa-Wise and Tennessee Wesleyan College met on the hard court, the Cavaliers came away with a tough 63-61 win in Athens. When the Bulldogs visited Wise Tuesday night, the story had a much different ending as TWC rolled to a decisive 88-48 win over their Appalachian Athletic Conference rivals in Greear Gymnasium. Senior Marjan Jankov (Strumica, Macedonia/Powell Valley High) led the Cavaliers with 11 points and Joey Blackwell (Kingsport, Tenn./Dobyns Bennett High) chipped in with eight, but UVa-Wise still came up on the losing end for the sixth consecutive game. Tyler Gaskin led the Bulldogs with 23 points. The Cavaliers, now 3-22 overall and 3-14 in the AAC, battle Milligan (Tenn.) College Saturday in Greear Gymnasium. Tip is at 7:30 p.m.
