Cavaliers fall to AAC rivals

WISE – Blake Mellinger (Glade Spring, Va./Patrick Henry High) scored 14 points and Joey Blackwell (Kingsport, Tenn./Dobyns Bennett High) added 11, but UVa-Wise dropped its seventh consecutive game Saturday, losing 74-53 to Appalachian Athletic Conference rival Milligan (Tenn.) College at Greear Gymnasium. UVa-Wise fell to 3-23 overall and 3-15 in the conference. Meanwhile, Milligan improved to 14-12 overall and 8-8 in the conference, thanks to 19 points from senior Craig Emmert. UVa-Wise next hits the floor Friday against AAC opponent Covenant (Ga.) College atr Greear Gym. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m.
