Cavaliers hoopsters drop a couple to AAC rivals

WISE, Va. –After trailing by six points at halftime (34-28), Brevard College outscored UVa-Wise by 30 in the second frame to snatch an 81-57 Appalachian Athletic Conference victory on a snowy Saturday night in Wise. Parker Gemmell led the Cavaliers (3-18 overall, 3-10 AAC) with 21 points, and Joey Blackwell and Blake Mellinger each added 11. Brevard’s Brian Grier tallied 24. In the women’s game Brevard, the AAC’s top team at 12-1, glided past the Lady Cavaliers 82-43. Sarah Helton’s 11 points paced UVa-Wise. The Lady Cavs now are 6-13 overall and 6-7 in the conference. Both Cavalier teams now hit the road for three games beginning Tuesday night against Union College in Barboursville, Ky.
