Twin Valley's Maxwell Signs with UVa-Wise Women's Hoops

Wise, VA – The University of Virginia's College at Wise women's basketball team is pleased to announce the signing of Twin Valley High School's Brittany Maxwell. The Lady Panthers' all-time leading scorer will sign the 2006-07 letter of intent to become a Lady Cavalier on Tuesday afternoon at her high school.
UVa-Wise head coach Rachel Clay-Keohane guided the women's basketball team to one of the best campaigns in school history this year. The Lady Cavs posted a 24-10 season record, claimed their first AAC championship and first appearance in the NAIA national championships without a senior on the team.
Maxwell will come to UVa-Wise in the fall as one of the most decorated women's basketball recruits by coach Clay-Keohane. The 5-7 shooting guard completed her scholastic playing days as the Twin Valley all-time leader in scoring (1,375 points), steals (262), free throw percentage (80.0%), three-pointers made (146) and rebounds (406). She set the Lady Panther record with 41 points against St. Paul in the 2005 Region D quarterfinal game at Clintwood.
The guard has led the Black Diamond District in scoring the past two seasons at 18.8 ppg last year and 20.4 ppg as a junior. She was a three-time All-Black Diamond District and All-Region D first team selection. Maxwell was named All-Southwest Virginia first team last season and second team in 2004-05. The prolific scorer helped Twin Valley to the BDD regular season co-championship as a junior.
Brittany holds over a 4.0 grade point average and is enrolled in the advanced classes through the A. Linwood Holton Governors School. Maxwell is alos a Teen Volunteer at Clinch Valley Medical Center.
