Cold Shooting Costs Lady Cavs

Dayton, TN – A cold first half cost UVA-Wise against the Appalachian Athletic Conference's top team, Bryan College, on the road Saturday night. The Lady Cavs hit only six of 29 shots in the opening half to fall behind by 16 points and could not recover to fall 67-54 to the Lady Lions.
For the second time in the week, Rachel Helton paced UVA-Wise (4-17/3-7 AAC) with 14 points including four three-pointers. Sarah Helton produced her second double-double of the week with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Chelsea Lee was the other double figure scorer with 10 tallies and five assists.
The Lady Cavs made six of 29 attempts in the first half and did not fare much better by dropping 10 of 30 shots. The visitors lost the battle on the boards as well, 48-41.
Bryan's All-American Brittany Swanson hit for 16 points, nine rebounds and three assists. Sarah Coffman and Kellie Thurman joined Swanson with 14 and 13 points. Coffman had a game-high 12 caroms.
Bryan (16-5/9-1 AAC) built a 35-19 advantage after 20 minutes. UVA-Wise won the second half on the scoreboard but the home team claimed the 67-54 win.
