Helton Garners AAC Women’s Hoops Player of the Week

Wise, VA – For the third time this season, Sarah Helton garnered the Appalachian Athletic Conference women’s basketball Player of the Week. The senior averaged 28.0 points and 9.0 rebounds in the 2-1 week for UVA-Wise.

The Lady Cavs improved their season mark to 8-20 and 6-10 in the conference last week.

Helton started the week with an impressive 29 points on 12 of 17 attempts while grabbing 13 boards in a 109-65 win over Montreat. She followed the second game two days later with a win against Alice Lloyd, 88-79. Helton scored 33 points on 12 of 20 tries with eight rebounds, four assists and four steals.

In the third game of the week, Sarah dumped in 22 points while grabbing six caroms, stealing five balls and handing out three assists.

Helton leads UVA-Wise with a 19.3 point and 8.0 rebound average.

The Lady Cavs will have its home finale Tuesday evening for a 5:30 p.m. contest against Milligan College.
