Milligan Takes Game Despite Carter’s Big Return

Milligan College, Tenn. – Despite Mindy Carter’s big 19-point return to the UVa-Wise lineup, Milligan College was able to take the Appalachian Athletic Conference women’s basketball game Tuesday night. The Lady Buffs outscored the Lady Cavs by five points each half for an 82-72 victory.

Carter was able to return to the UVa-Wise (5-24/3-14 AAC) by hitting seven of 12 shots including four triples for 19 points and handed out three assists. Brittney Maxwell drained five treys for 17 points and Adrienne Womack added 13 tallies. Lauren Jervis grabbed 12 rebounds to go with six points and three assists. Kim Norris chipped in nine points and five assists. The Lady Cavs outshot the home team 47 to 42% but committed over twice as many turnovers, 26 to 12.

Milligan (16-13/13-4 AAC) received a big game from Rikki Baughman. Baughman made seven of eight attempts for 19 points and clutched 10 boards. Leah Anderson and Heather Mandela added 12 points apiece.

The two teams played tightly in the first half to a 37-32 Milligan advantage at the intermission. The Lady Cavs battled back but could not take the contest to fall 82-72.

UVa-Wise will round out its regular season with ‘Senior Day’ on Saturday against Union College starting at 2:00 p.m.
