PSU-Beaver Edges UVa-Wise Women’s Hoops

Montgomery, WV – After taking defending Mid-South champion and host West Virginia Tech to the limit Friday night, UVa-Wise was edged by Penn State-Beaver, 65-64, in women’s basketball on Saturday afternoon at the Tech Thanksgiving Classic.
For the second game in a row, Kim Norris (Eidson, Tenn.) netted 22 points to lead the Lady Cavs (2-6) effort. She made eight of 17 shots, grabbed four boards and stole four balls. Meghan Rutherford (Bristol, Va.) added 11 points and seven rebounds off the bench while Brittany Maxwell (Whitewood, Va.) chipped in 10 tallies. Center Adrienne Womack (Floyd, Va.) handed out seven assists.
Queznay Hubbard led all scorers with a 30-point effort including making six of nine from long-range. She also tied for the Lady Lion (3-0) effort.
PSU-Beaver held a 30-29 halftime slim margin and the two squads played even 35-35 in the latter half for the same one point final difference.
The Lady Cavs return to action on Tuesday night for a 7:00 p.m. match at Asbury College.
