WISE, Va -- Sophomore point guard Chelsea Lee returned to action Tuesday after missing three games with a broke hand and scored 20 points and dished out five assists to lead UVa-Wise to an 85-59 victory over Montreat (N.C.) College.
The win snapped a seven-game losing streak for the Lady Cavs as they improved to 6-6 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference and 6-12 overall.
Sophomores Terri Ann Hill and Sarah Helton each knocked in 17 points, and Helton recorded a double-double by grabbing 11 rebounds. Freshman Crystal Ratcliffe matched a career-high with 10 points.
The Lady Cavaliers shot 51 percent from the field for the game while also playing tenacious defense and holding Montreat’s shooters to just 33 percent.
UVa-Wise returns to the court Saturday for a 5:30 p.m. AAC showdown with first-place Brevard (N.C.) College.
