UVa-Wise suffers sixth consecutive defeat

WISE, VA -­The UVa-Wise women’s basketball team failed to put an end to its recent losing streak Tuesday. The Lady Cavs, now 5-11 overall and 5-5 in the conference, dropped an 83-65 decision to Virginia Intermont College in the early game at Greear Gym.

Sophomore Sarah Helton (Wise, Va./J.J. Kelly High) paced the Lady Cavaliers in scoring with a game-high 19 points. Jessica Bacon (Fall Branch, Tenn./Daniel Boone High) and reserve Terri Ann Hill (St. Paul, Va./St. Paul High) each tallied 13 points.

Sheena Chesney led the Cobras (10-5 overall and 7-3 in the conference) with 15 points. Next up for UVa-Wise is a 2 p.m. date with King College Saturday in Wise.
