Cavs Cross Country Competes Against Appalachian State

Boone, NC – The University of Virginia’s College at Wise cross country teams competed against NCAA Division I Appalachian State on Friday evening. Both the Highland Cavalier men and women were tightly bunched in the dual meet.
Appalachian State took the men’s side with a shutout 15 score while the Cavs finished with a score of 79. The UVa-Wise women ran only four runners, one short of scoring the meet as a team.
For the men, Sean Stiltner, Seth Collins and Jonathan Baker came across the finish line only seconds apart in 20 th (23:39), 21 st (24:38) and 22 nd (24:44). Bradley Sharpe and Adam Reed rounded out the five in 25 th (28:50) and 26 th (35:27) over the 6.4k course.
Janice King led the Lady Cavs runner placing 22 nd with a time of 22:51 for the 5k course. In 24 th and 25 th places, Brittney Mullins and Laura Guagliardo were only two seconds apart in 23:54 and 23:56 while Bridget Bevins finished 26 th in 28:15.
The squads will return next Saturday when they take part in the Roanoke College Invitational in Salem, Va.
