Four Cavs Runners Post Best Times at Appalachian State

Boone, NC – Four University of Virginia’s College at Wise cross country runners posted career bests times at Appalachian State’s Blue Ridge Invitational on Friday afternoon.

Janice King and Laura Guagliardo posted career bests for the women while Jonathan Baker and Bradley Sharpe had personal top times for the Cavalier men.

King ran the 5k event in 20:31 in 51 st place of the 124 runners. The freshman from Fries, VA helped her to beat out 51 NCAA Division I runners. Brittney Mullins was the next finisher for the Lady Cavs in 22:49 which was her season-best time. Guagliardo was the other woman to have a career best in 23:12.

Baker ran 30:56.3 for the best time of his career as did Sharpe going across the line at 34:27.3. Seth Collins was the lone other UVa-Wise male runner as he finished between his two teammates with a time of 32:14.1.

The teams will now be off until October 29 th when they will run at Maryville College (TN).
