Stiltner Paces Cavs Runners at King Invite

Bristol, TN– Sean Stiltner paced the cross country effort on Saturday for the University of Virginia’s College at Wise. Stiltner ran across the finish fourth in the men’s field as the Highland Cavaliers took part in the King College Parents Day Invitational.

UVa-Wise finished third in the small men’s field with 65 points behind the winning score of 30 by Brevard while host King College was second with 34. The Lady Cavs’ team did not score since having only three runners participate.

Stiltner, a junior from Grundy, ran a time of 28:53 for the 8k course and was 13 seconds ahead of the next runner. Seth Collins ( Castlewood, VA) placed 15 th (31:10) as the other top runner for the men. The trio of Bradley Sharpe (Big Stone Gap, VA), Sean Sedberry and Adam Reed (Wise, VA) rounded out the Cavs with 29 th (34:53), 32 nd (40:22) and 35 th (46:53) place finishes.

First year runner Janice King continued to be the leader of the Lady Cav runners as she came across the line sixth of 17 runners in 23:12 over the 5k course. Brittany Mullins (Haysi, VA) was a half minute behind King in 10 th place (23:42) and Laura Guagliardo ran to 16th place in 26:23.

The teams will now be off until Friday, October 14 th when they make their second trip to Boone, NC and Appalachian State.
