UVa-Wise Cross Country Wraps Season at NAIA Regionals

Louisville, KY – The Highland Cavalier cross country teams ran hard at the NAIA Region 12 championships on Saturday afternoon. Sean Stiltner and Janice King continued to lead the two University of Virginia’s College at Wise with 18 th and 24 th finishes.

The UVa-Wise men finished 10 th of the 12 teams field with 233 points. Virginia Intermont posted a shutout with a score of 15 to take the team title while Milligan College was a distant second (89 points). The Lady Cavs ran three runners so they had no team score as Milligan College won the women’s side with 33 points followed by Virginia Intermont (47 points).

As he has all season, Stiltner was the first Cav across the finish line. He ran the 8k event in 28:46.72. Jonathan Baker and Seth Collins were the next two UVa-Wise runners in 48 th (31:19.53) and 54 th (31:41.95). The trio of Bradley Sharpe (76 th, 34:12.38), Sean Sedberry (86 th, 38:52.17) and Adam Reed (94 th, 48:18.99) rounded out the men.

King ran strongly to a time of 21:53.61 over the 5k race for 24 th. Brittney Mullins and Laura Guagliardo were bunched together by placing 46 th (22:55.60) and 48 th (23:09.26).
