Stilner and King Highlight Cavs Cross Country Opener at Tusculum

Greeneville, TN - Sean Stilner and Janice King paced the University of Virginia’s College at Wise cross country teams in the cross country season opener at the Tusculum Invitational Saturday. Stilner ran across sixth for the men while King placed eighth in the women’s run.
UVa-Wise men placed fourth with 84 points while Lenoir-Rhyne had 24 points. Lenoir-Rhyne captured the women’s title as well with 24 points while the Lady Cavs did not score with three runners participating.
Stilner, a junior from Grundy, ran to a time of 29:48 for sixth over the 8K course. Jonathan Baker and Seth Collins ( Castlewood, VA) were next in 14th (32:57) and 17th (35:53). Bradley Sharpe (Big Stone Gap, VA) and Adam Reed (Wise, VA) rounded out the Cavs runners coming across the line in 21st (39:17) and 24th (47:50).
King had a solid outing to start the year by running a time of 22:26 for eighth place in the 5K course. Brittany Mullins ( Haysi, VA) and Laura Guagliardo (Burke, VA) were not far behind in 11th (22:58) and 12th (23:13).
The teams will return to action this Friday at Appalachian State.
