Cavs’ Runners Have Tough Day on Rugged Covenant Course

Lookout Mountain, GA – The UVA-Wise cross country teams had a tough day on a rugged course Saturday at the Mountain Top Classic. Sean Stiltner, Stephen Gregory and Maureen Seibold paced the Cavs on the day at Covenant College.
The Cavs’men finished sixth in the seven team field with a score of 141. Bryan College took the title at 31 while Lincoln Memorial was second (54). The UVA-Wise had only three women’s runners and did not score.
Stiltner and Gregory were less than two seconds apart to lead the Cavs’ charge in 20th (30:42.09) and 21st (30:43.66). Britten Olinger, Seth Collins and Jared Taylor rounded out the scoring runners coming in 30th (32:28.29), 33rd (33:08.87) and 37th (33:57.62).
Three other Cavs, Bradley Sharpe, Austin Taylor and Derek Bunch, ran in the race. Sharpe finished 40th (34:49.52), Taylor 43rd (36:13.29) and Bunch 45th (38:02.13).
Seibold had a strong race placing 17th (23:36.90). Janice King was the second UVA-Wise runner across in 28th (24:46.01) while Nancy Kamal captured 45th (35:00.94) in her first collegiate race.
UVA-Wise will return to action next Saturday, October 14th at the Maryville College Invitational.
