Cavs Harriers Show Improvement at Spartanburg Methodist

Spartanburg, SC -- The UVA-Wise cross country squads showed some good improvement from their first meet of
season on Saturday. The Highland Cavaliers ran at the Spatanburg Methodist Eye-Opener Invitational and received
four vast time improvements from the runners.
Freshman Stephen Gregory and sophomore Britten Olinger had great performances as did Janice King and newcomer
Maureen Seibold made some impressive progress. Gregory was second on the team with a time of 30:03 for 80th place.
Olinger showed the most dramatic improvement of the Cav men by cutting nearly three minutes off his finish
from a week ago with a 32:18 finish for the 8k event.
Sophomore King turned in a time of 22:54 (90th) to shave off over two and a half minutes from a week ago. Seibold
was impressive with a 23:05 time in her first season as a competititive runner.
Sean Stiltner had tops honors for the UVA-Wise men as the team ran without three of the squad's top five runners due
to illness and injury.
Stiltner was 63rd with a time of 29:34. After Olinger, freshman Jared Taylor (33:31), sophomore
Bradley Sharpe (35:02) and sophomore Austin Taylor (35:50) came across the line.
Junior
Bridget Bevins rounded out the Lady Cavs with a time of 26:37 in her first race of the season.
The Cavs now look ahead to a trip to Greenville, TN this weekend, where they will take part in the Tusculum Invitational.
