Skeen and Killough Sisters Post Top 10 Finishes for Cavs Runners

Berea , Ky. – Freshmen Collin Skeen and Brittany Killough posted top 10 finishes for the UVa-Wise cross country runners at the Berea Invitational Saturday morning. Skeen took eighth and the men were fourth while Killough sisters garnered a second and seventh place as the women were fifth.
The Highland Cavaliers finished the meet with 104 points, just three points behind third place Union College. Lindsey Wilson won the even with a 30 score while host Berea was runner-up with 67.
Skeen ran the race in 28:27 for eighth place. Sophomore Stephen Gregory was second on the team in 12th (28:50). Spencer Adams and Derek Bunch were together in 22nd (30:24) and 23rd (30:25). Britten Olinger and Landon Smith rounded out the men’s contingent in 43rd (32:20) and 49th (33:22).
Killough had her second strong placing in two weeks. The freshman from Wise, Va. took second (19:28) in the 5k event after leading the first third of the event and taking a wrong turn to lose the lead. Her sister, Desirae raced to seventh (21:31) for the other top 10 placing. The sisters helped the team take fifth in the eight team field with a score of 121, only two points behind fourth place Midway (119). Lindsey Wilson won the even with a 43 and Georgetown was second (54).
Tamara Haack followed the two top runners in 33rd (24:25) with Maureen Seibold not far behind in 37th (24:51). Therese McMahon and Leah Arthur were back-to-back in 44th (25:37) and 45th (25:56) with Brandi Bailey completing the women’s runners in 58th (32:44).
The Cavs will now be off before hosting the UVa-Wise Open at Camp Bethel on Saturday, September 29th.
