Killough Signs with Hometown UVA-Wise Over Numerous NCAA DI Offers

Wise, VA – In what will be termed the biggest addition in the young program, the University of Virginia’s College at Wise is proud to announce J.J. Kelly High School senior Brittany Killough signed a letter of intenti to go to her hometown college and spur numerous NCAA Division I offers.
"I am excited to add someone of Brittany's caliber to our distance program,” adds UVA-Wise cross country head coach Jason Lewkowicz. “She has tremendous potential to be a great college runner and will be a cornerstone for our emerging women's team."
The all-state runner signed a formal letter of intent this afternoon at J.J. Kelly High School in Wise, Va. Brittany was accompanied by her parents, Greg and Catherine Killough, J.J. Kelly representatives of principal Charles Collins, cross country coach Cathy South and track & field coach Andrew Kilgore.
Killough selected to join the ‘hometown’ Highland Cavaliers for her collegiate choice. The senior runner had NCAA Division I offers from Maryland, Virginia Tech and East Carolina on her list.
The Wise, Va. native has been a four-time all-state selection in cross country, four-time Lonesome Pine District champion and 2006 Region D champion. Last year, Killough was an all-state track & field runner in both the 1600 and 3200 meters and claimed the LPD 3200-meter title three times.
