April 4, 2008
Wise, Va. – The UVa-Wise cross country programs continue to grow as Fauquier High’s Max Frankel became the last runner to commit for next season. Frankel earned all-district acclaim four times over his career including last spring in the 1600 and 3200 meters indoor and outdoor track events.
Highland Cavalier head coach Jason Lewkowicz added, “ I am excited to add Max to our men’s distance program. He is someone who has had a decorated track career that I believe will translate to success in cross country as well.
“Max is known for his work ethic and team-first mentality, which is exactly the kind of student-athlete that I like to bring into the program. I think that he will blend in well with our other newcomers and will be a positive contributor in both cross country and track.”
The Marshall, Va. product also earn all-district honors in 2006 cross country, and 2008 indoor track, 1000 and 1600 meters. Frankel was selected as an all-region runner in the indoor 1600m last spring as well as the team’s MVP. He has posted personal best times of 2:48 in the 1000 meters, 4:37 in the 1600 meters and 9:23 in the 3000 meters.
