Area Pair Complete Cavs Cross Country 2008 Recruits

Wise, VA – The 2008 UVa-Wise cross country recruiting class was rounded out recently by two final recruits for the upcoming fall season.  Lebanon’s Spenser Brenner and Abingdon’s Mary Katherine Phipps will become Highland Cavaliers runners.

Brenner focused his attention to his running cross country and track this past season where he made major strides in his progress.  The newcomer from Lebanon High competed in the state championships for both cross country and the 3200 meters in track & field.

Phipps will add another promising female runner to the UVa-Wise fold.  She is a hard worker who was a state championship qualifier in the 3200 meters and boasts a personal best 5K time of 21:14.

The 2008 Cavs’ cross country season will begin on Saturday, September 6 th at the Spartanburg (S.C.) Methodist Eye-Opener Invitational.
