UVa-Wise Dorsainvil Voted Mid-South Defensive Player of the Week
Highland Cavaliers Move into NAIA Top 25

Wise, VA -- Defensive end Reggie Dorsainvil led the University of Virginia’s College at Wise defense last Saturday and was a key part of the team’s victory over Southern Virginia University. Today, the sophomore was voted the Mid-South Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
The Cavs improved their season record to 3-0 for the first time since 1997 with the 25-14 win at Southern Virginia. With the perfect start of the year, UVa-Wise jumped into the NAIA football ranking to 22 nd and made its first appearance in the NAIAFootball.net ratings at 24 th released today.
Saturday the Cavs trailed 14-12 early in the third quarter. Defensive end Jon Nacy batted the Southern Virginia pass into the air and Dorsainvil ( Virginia Beach, VA/ Salem) snatched it out of the air to rumble 57 yards for the go ahead touchdown and 18-14 score. UVa-Wise would not relinquish the lead the rest of the game but added on more fourth quarter touchdown for the 25-14 final.
Dorsainvil’s outstanding day included eight tackles, six solo, three tackles for loss of seven yards, one sack of six yards, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and the interception for the score.
The Cavs will return to action on the road this Saturday when they travel into Tennessee to face Cumberland University starting at 2:30 p.m. eastern time.
