UVa-Wise Hippeard Earns Mid-South Football Offensive Player of the Week

Wise, VA -- Redshirt freshman quarterback Randy Hippeard picked up the University of Virginias College at Wise first football honor today by being named Mid-South Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
The Stafford, VA native was near perfect on the day to help the Highland Cavaliers rout Chowan College, 54-20, and amass 572 yards of total offense. The victory took UVa-Wises mark to 2-0 for the first time in eight seasons. The team opened the season on August 27th with a comeback 27-26 win at North Greenville College.
Hippeard completed 15 of 20 passes for 381 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in his second collegiate start, both against NCAA Division II squads. He also ran the ball one time for two yards to take his total to 383 yards of total offense.
Over the first two games, the Colonial Forge High grad had completed 30 of 51 attempts for 603 yards for five touchdowns to only one interception. He is averaging 301.5 yards passing per game and a solid 186.57 passing efficiency rating. Hippeard has rushed five times for 16 yards and has an average of 309.5 yards per game in total offense.
Hippeard and the Highland Cavaliers will return to action this Saturday, September 17th for a 1:00 p.m. contest at Southern Virginia University.
